I am a Michigan criminal defense attorney and founder of ZAYID LAW. I was born and raised in Metro Detroit where my father, Geno Zayid, established himself as a premier personal injury attorney and represented the community against the system and big insurance companies. I was, quite literally, born to be an attorney, and particularly an attorney for the people against a system that so often takes advantage of the underrepresented community.

During my time at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in law school, I saw firsthand how the state or “the system” utilizes all of its resources to prosecute and, most often, convict defendants – even some who may have been wrongfully accused. I learned the unfortunate reality that in some criminal cases, defendants plead guilty or get convicted simply because they had inadequate legal representation. I understand the "weapons" you have at your disposal to challenge evidence, challenge the investigation and, ultimately, beat the charges brought against you.

I knew that my particular set of skills were best suited representing the criminally accused, and I left the corporate law world to establish ZAYID LAW. I use my experience in the federal prosecutorial system, as well as my frequent service for pro bono legal aid, to represent individuals in the tri-county area of Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties.

Before ZAYID LAW, Mr. Zayid was an associate at a nationally recognized litigation firm in Bloomfield Hills, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in complex litigation including product liability, toxic tort, automobile negligence, and general liability. Mr. Zayid was frequently trusted with the management of high stakes cases, which resulted in an intimate association with the Michigan and Federal court systems.

Mr. Zayid attended college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he graduated with honors in political science. He went on to attend Wayne State University Law School on a full-ride scholarship, where he finished in the top 10% of his class. Mr. Zayid’s article in the Wayne Law Review was published and circulated nationwide. During law school, Mr. Zayid gained invaluable experience by working for a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, as well as the United States Attorney’s Office in the General Crimes Unit (GCU). In the General Crimes Unit, Mr. Zayid contributed to sentencing memoranda, legal research, and various court filings, including responses to motions to suppress. He also conducted ticket duty hearings and negotiated plea agreements with defense attorneys before the court. These experiences offered Mr. Zayid a firsthand look at the prosecutorial system and placed him in the unique position to battle the system as a criminal defense attorney.
